12 x 2⅝” x 2⅝” squares, cut in half diagonally once – for blocks

4 x 2½” x 2½” squares – corners.

From fabric 2 cut 184 x 2⅝” x 2⅝” squares, cut in half diagonally once – for blocks.

From fabric 3 cut 14 x 2½” x 7½” strips – outer border.

From fabric 4 cut 14 x 2½” x 7½” strips – outer border.

From each of fabrics 5 to 18 cut 14 x 4″ x 4″ squares.

Sewing

Remember to press each seam after sewing.

1. This main part of the quilt uses fourteen rows of fourteen squares from fourteen fabrics; stack each set of squares ready to cut.

2. Measure and mark 1/ ⅞” in, from the top left corner and 1⅞” down, from the top left corner, cut across from one mark to the other.

3. Repeat this process on the bottom right corner.

4. You will need to do this to each 4″ square.

5. Using the diagram as a guide lay out all of the pieces for the top row of the quilt, sew the small triangles from fabric 2 in place, to make up each square.

6. Sew the squares together to complete the row.

7. Repeat this process for each row; particularly noting the rows that have triangles cut from fabric 1.

8. Press the seams for each row in opposite directions.

9. When all the rows are complete sew together to complete the quilt centre.

10. For the inner border: joining strips as necessary stitch the side first and then the top and bottom

11. For the outer border; lay out the strips as shown in the diagram and sew together, stitch the short pieces from fabric 1 to each end of each strip, add the corner squares to each end of the top and bottom strips.

12. Stitch the side borders first and then the top and bottom.

13. Layer together the top, wadding and backing fabric and quilt either by hand or machine.

14. Stitch the binding using strips of fabric 1.
