Stitching

Please remember to press each seam as you sew.

Block1

1. Lay out all the pieces for block one using the diagram as a guide.

2. Sew the corner triangle pieces to make four small squares.

3. Sew the small triangles to the larger triangles to make four rectangles.

4. Next sew the elements for each row of the block together.

5. Sew the rows together to complete the block, make another four in the same way.

Block 2

1. Sew the four centre squares together to make one large square.

2. Sew the small triangles together in pairs and then sew these to the larger triangles to make four rectangles.

3. Now sew the elements of each row together.

4. Sew the rows together to complete the block, make another three in the same way.

Lay the blocks out as shown in the main diagram and sew together in three rows of three, to make the quilt centre.

Stitch the inner border strips to the quilt centre, side pieces first and then top and bottom pieces.

Make up the outer border, referring to the main diagram for the colour sequence, sew the small triangles to the larger ones to make a rectangle, there are twenty four in total.

Sew the rectangles into four strips of six and add a black strip and a corner square to two of these strips, these will be the top and bottom border.

Sew the side strips to the quilt first and then the top and bottom strips.

Layer together the top, wadding and backing fabric and quilt either by hand or machine, echoing the design of the fabric.

Add the binding using fabric 2.
