1. Two block designs are used to make this quilt, begin by laying out all of the pieces needed for each set of blocks. At each step use the picture as a guide for the colour sequence.
2. Block 1: Stitch four small squares together to make one larger square for the centre of the block.
3. Make four ‘flying geese’ pieces as above and stitch one to left and right of the centre square.
4. Stitch a small square to left and right of the remaining ‘flying geese’.
5. Stitch these pieces to the top and bottom of the block.
6. The block is now complete, make another nine in the same way.
7. Block 1: Stitch the eight small triangles together in pairs to give four larger triangles.
8. Stitch these triangles to each side of the centre square.
9. Make up the two ‘flying geese’ pieces by stitching the long sides of the small triangles to the short sides of the larger triangles.
10. Stitch the ‘flying geese’ to the top and bottom of the centre panel.
11. Make the side pieces of the block by stitching the rectangles together in pairs along the short edge.
12. Make another nine in the same way.
13. Layer together the quilt top, wadding and backing fabric and pin or baste in place.
14. Quilt by hand or machine.
15. Add the binding.
